Lions Head Travel Guide
Welcome to Lions Head!
Named for the prominent resemblance to a lion's profile jutting from the limestone cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment, the village of Lion's Head enjoys majestic, roar-worthy scenery and recreation. The townsite is located on the 45th parallel, midway up the Bruce Peninsula, approximately three and a half hours northwest of Toronto. It is surrounded by the waters of Georgian Bay, the peninsula section of the famous Bruce Trail, and UNESCO's Niagara Escarpment. The location lends itself perfectly to deep-water fishing, hiking, sunning and swimming. It also boasts some of the best and most difficult rock climbing in Canada. The Lion's Head Nature Reserve is a park that protects the rock formation and supports the ancient cedars and other plant species unique to the area. The spectacular landscape stretches 30 minutes north of Lion's Head, leading to Bruce Peninsula National Park and the FathomFive National Marine Park.
The community itself offers full services including a marina, hospital, churches, schools, shops, art studios and galleries. Accommodations include waterfront bed and breakfasts, private cottages and motel units. Unique restaurants serving Niagara wines, regional cuisine and the catch-of-the-day help to make Lion's Head a popular hideaway destination for nature enthusiasts, sailors and anglers who enjoy the town's warm hospitality.
